Orishas: “Antidiótico”

ORISHAS RELEASE LONG-AWAITED BEST OF
“Antidiotico” includes three new tracks, two exclusive featurings and unreleased gems
Much more than a musical group, Orishas are an institution. In Cuba, where they are considered a national heritage, in Europe, where they are being acclaimed for their own fusion of son and hip hop, and throughout all America, where they are acknowledged as the undoubted pioneers of rhythm who, in the last decade have placed the Latin stamp on street credibility. In view of this and because their work is an inexhaustible spring of inspiration and talent, the publication of their first “Best Of” in the career has already become one of the noteworthy events in 2007. Moreover, it is accompanied by three unreleased songs and two new versions one “Represent”, featuring Heather Headley, originally written for the sound track of the film “Dirty Dancing: Havana Night” (Guy Ferland, 04) and another of “Quién te dijo” rescued from United States edition of “El Kilo” (EMI, 05) with the cameo of Pitbull, a rapper with Cuban ancestry and writer one of the foundation stones of the “Dirty South”, “M.I.A.M.I” (TVT, 04). Both escort the release of “Silencio” (an emotional reminder of their initial stage), “Una Página” (a mixture of concern and hope on the state of health of Fidel Castro) and “Hay un son”, a new hymn in the wake of their well-known hit-songs “537 C.U.B.A”, “Qué pasa” or “Nací Orishas”.

Since they surprised the entire world with “A lo cubano” (EMI, 99), Roldán, Ruzzo and Yotuel have ceased to break barriers, exceeding the seven hundred and five thousand copies sold only in Europe, having been twice nominated for the British Grammy awards, with the latest just last year, for their extraordinary “El Kilo”, and winning it in their Latin version, thanks to “Emigrante” (EMI, 02). Thus, the bringing together of all their hits in a single CD, entitled “Antidiótico”, which is also available in a special edition that includes a second CD with exclusive collaboration of French girl Kalliah, the Portuguese Da Weasel and the legendary Beny Moré (R.I.P.), very productive remixes such as, the Flamenco air of “1999” and lastly, a DVD containing these small cinematographic prodigies that are their video-clips, provide the true dimension of a project that is essential to understanding the cross between tradition and innovation of the deities with the most rhythm of the “santero” pantheon. It is said that no one can take away the gift of a person who is born with it.
